Announcing the cast for the first ever London LBQ webseries SHE'S IN LONDON as crowdfunding goal hits 50%

PRESS RELEASE: For immediate release - 3 JUNE 2015

From the founders of Planet London, Lemonwedge Productions and Kat Holmes, producer of the lesbian festival hit 'Submerge', comes the first ever UK based dedicated lesbian, bi and queer themed web series. 'She's in London' is the first content from the newly formed production company Planet M, specialising in LGBT content for all screen formats.

With a story that focuses on a Soho lesbian bar and the fight to save it against the backdrop of the gentrification of Soho, and of course the love dramas that take place between staff and customers of the bar, the series aims to portray authentic lesbian, bi and queer (LBQ) London life.

The talented cast reflect the diversity in London's LBQ community. We are delighted to announce that:

  • MIRI plays Theo - the happy-go-lucky, recently single, wannabe player lesbian bar worker, who’s trying to keep her life “uncomplicated”
  • Joanna Ludlow plays Sam - Theo’s best mate, struggling to work out what and who she wants
  • Clare Hopes plays Mel - Sam’s ex who is drawn to Theo’s uncomplicated ways and perhaps the wrong side of the fight to save the bar
  • Kerry Leigh plays Jill - Theo’s boss and the mother-hen, mama bear bar owner, leading the fight to save the bar

They are ably supported by:

Lauren Karl, Rachael Cooksey, Tash Rebuc, Adwoa-Alexi Mintah and Jake Graf.

There are also a number of cameos from familiar faces including Out in South London's Rosie Wilby, Drag Idol 2014 Winner, LoUis CYfer and My Lesbian Radio Lesbian Lounge podcast host Denise Warner-Gregory. The soundtrack will feature some of the brightest talent from LBQ musicians including MIRI and ME and Deboe.

Planet M is delighted to be working with Tello Films, renowned for producing and distributing authentic, innovative, high-quality web series with a lesbian focus. Tello will be distributing the series, and showcasing 'She’s in London' to their significant subscriber base across North America. The series will be shot in Soho, with one of the main locations being a well known LGBT venue.

Katie and Naomi Bennett-Hall, Co-Founders of Ultimate Planet (incorporating Planet M and Planet London) said

"We are super excited to be at the forefront of creating LBQ content that showcases the London community, and to be working with so many talented creative colleagues. 'She's in London' is borne from a passion of Katie’s, to create authentic lesbian-focused content for our community."

Kat Holmes, Creative Producer said

"I’m proud to have joined Planet M to help drive the production of quality lesbian content out of the UK. She’s in London looks at the very topical issue of LGBT businesses being driven out of Soho, and encases it in a delightful love story. This web series will be a must see for not only LBQ women in the UK, but also globally."

Supporters can help make this series a reality by pledging support in exchange for exciting perks in our Kick Starter campaign until June 14th.
